pending charges on card.... eventually will it clear if it's left long enough?

2 weeks ago I tried to pay for some. dental work Via.contactless. it failed to go through so did again with chip and pin and it worked.

unfortunately the money was taken twice from by debit card.

1 transaction has completed the other is stuck at pending.

I thought it would auto refund if not completed within 7 days but this has not happened. if I leave it long enough will the hold be removed and the cash released or will it have to be manually done by the dentist?

Contact your bank?

i tried that... well not a bank as such, as it isnt a bank card... but i did contact the company who issued it, they were friendly and replied quickly but ultimately said they couldnt help, i will go and see the dentist and see what they say but was just curious if anyone here had had a similar issue..

i will defintely keep an eye on this one.... it hink it is the 3rd or 4th one i have noticed this happen to over the last 18 months, and the othres i have written off and just assumed they eventually got refunded....... but this one being the best part of £100 on i am not gonna let go.

I really hope it does resolve itself as otherwise it means the others probably didnt either (and those were not insignificant amounts of money either (over £50). it may be time for me to stop using the card tbh or at least the contactless part of it, as it happens too often. only thing is it has good cashback as well as decent to use abroad.

I've had a double payment before and my bank said the merchant won't "claim" the second one and it should automatically drop off and credit my balance within 7 days, which is exactly what happened on day 7.

yeah that is what i was expecting... tho it was 10 days ago now and so far nowt. i guess i just need to wait and see.
