Penryn release dates please.

I'm holding out with my new gigabyte motherboard...with a P4 3.4GHz HT.

Must...wait!! Just imagining the difference in speed!! Looking at getting the q9300, quad core 2.5Ghz and 1333fsb :)

I think the estimates are around the 200 mark, although I'd be amazed if theya re that cheap on the release :(

The inital release of Core 2 Duo came out very close to estimated prices. Intel have 'standard' price points per 1k processors, $266, $316, $530, and $999. They have used these prices since Pentium IV, so you can normally 'guestimate' the prices of the new processors based on the old.

I believe the current Q6700 (284.99+vat) is the currenlt $530/1000 processor, that should provide an approximate price for the Q9550. The Q9450 should be somewhere in the £190'+vat, and the Q9300's should be somewhere around the price of the Q6600.

Intel generally roll out fairly good levels of stock on their mainstream processors. I remember when Core 2 Duo came out, some models at OcUK were sold out, but I was able to walk in pretty much release day, and pick up a pair of E6700's from the shop. I didnt pre order :) So there shouldnt be massive shortages of chips leading to a supply/demand issue and high prices.
