Ive had my Hoya R72 Infra red filter for awhile, but its only last week that I got around to getting a tripod. So ive finally been able to give the filter is first proper use. :)

The 1st 3 were underexposed compared to the last one, which is closer to the typical IR effect.

any thoughts and critique are really appreciated.

I quite like the last one but feel it could do with a little rotation anti clockwide to get the building standing straight up.

Conversly I think #4 is a litle too much lik the cliche IR shot, whereas you've captured something quite sinister with the exposure and processing on #1 and #3. They remind me of the Cottingley fairies for some reason.

Good job!

First 3 don't look obviously infra red, which to me is good as infrared for infrareds sake doesn't always make a good picture. The way you have processed them makes them look quite dark and sinister.

Last pic looks good, but could do with straightening up! Did you take a custom white balance with the IR filter on? (Filter on, then custom white balance while pointing at grass).

Nice choice of camera! I'm a fellow Pentaxian!

No i didnt use a custom white balance for these. It slipped my mind, that being my first infra red walk about. Im actually not to happy about that last one, it turned out ok, but i really put no effort into the composition which annoys me now. I had just noticed that i had been under exposing all the photos from the forest and was just testing it out.

Whats the easiest way to straighten in photoshop? paint shop pro had a straighten tool that worked really well. is there another method other than using the crop tool?

thanks for the comment.

Under the same button as the dropper tool there's a Ruler tool. Use that to draw along a horizontal or vertical, then go to Image > Rotate Canvas > Arbitrary. That will get the angle from the ruler tool so just click OK and it will straighten to whatever line you trace with the ruler.

As for the pics I agree with the above - prefer the first 3 and #3 is the standout for me, very good atmosphere to it and I like the vignetting (natural or added?).

^ thanks. the vignetting on the 3rd one was added. over the original it helps the image a lot. linking in the path a bit better and keeping my eye from getting stuck in the busy blurred leaves.
