Pentium 4 Mobile 479 the answer for me? Fastest CPU?

I always thought my old P4PE was as fast as it could get with my P4-3.06 (@3.22)...

However, someone has just mentioned to me about using Pentium 479 mobile chips. From a quick google these CPUs seem incredible fast!!!

I'm wondering if it's possible to actually get such a chip running on my P4PE (Socket 478/533) board, and in reality if it would really make much of a difference to my CPU speed?

With some Asus 478 mobos you can use a ct479 adapter to fit a 479 Pm. You'd have to check compatibility first though.

I can't see any specific mention of it being compatible even on Asus, but it's a bit vague.

The mobiles seem almost 50% faster than a 3Ghz processor! Amazing!

Check through the BIOS update logs on the website, they'll tell you whether your board can take the adapter or not.
