Hi all, my first post here. Being a medium on the scale of computer know how I always like to think I can find a solution to most problems, except this one. I am installing a tracking system in 3 vans which uploads the location to a server through gprs. The problem I am having I think is the power supply I have purchased. I have a 160w 12v power supply which is listed as having enough wattage to power a "full power" pentium 4 motherboard. However, upon boot the mobo wont even start the POST. I contacted the supplier and they say that it must be my wiring as pentium 4 boards only pull 75w on the 12v rail at max. No I re-did the wiring and still having a problem. Can anybody confirm that the p4 boards only pull a max 75w?

The board I am using at the present is a medion ms-6719, unfortunatly the bios is locked and cant find any info on power requirements. Rubbish board I know but it was free.

Thanks

Have you branched off to connect the 4 pin connector next to the CPU? You may need to have a molex 2 to 1 and a molex to 4pin adapter to suit it.

Sorry for my delay in getting back, been busy with work. The Power supply already has a 4 pin molex output which is connected. Still not had much joy getting it to boot. Checked the voltages from the red and yellow wires and they seem fine. I connected an amp meter prior to the power supply to see how many amps its drawing and its only 1.2A running 1.3A at initial power-up. Im going to take the power supply to a computer repair place to get it checked out in the next few days. Im thinking a dodgy power supply or a hungry mobo.
