Hi Guys and Gals,

I know there are quite a few posts about the 805 chip but I would like some buying advice if possible from you people in the know :)

I need:

Chip (805 obviously)
Motherboard
Memory
PSU
I have a cheap Watercooler already which should allow me to clock it some even though I may not get the max out of it.

On the motherboard front is it worth going for the new ASUS one which supports Conroe ? or do any of you know of any Mb manufacturers that will/can update their existing boards BIOS to handle Conroe ?

I currently have a Corsair CM512-3200C2 ram, would this work with the 805 and LGA775 mainboard until I got some new memory ?

Thanks for any advice.

The DFI boards seem good but I have heard that ASUS boards are best for overclocking Pentiums ?

Hmm £50 less can't complain but I wonder how much difference between G.Skill and Patriot when OCing ?

I can see what you are saying WJA96 but I think you get what you pay for in life so a cheap MOBO could bring instability when OCing. Whereas buying one of the big three Asus, Abit or DFI gurantees a standard of quality.

Also I would like to upgrade to Conroe in say 6 months to a year when the prices are reasonable.

I can't understand why you called the DFI a B-Grade MOBO though, as it is simply the lower specced Lan Party. I would rather buy the Infinity anyway as I would not use RAID 10 which will probaly come with a Lan Party ver. or two extra SATA's (seen as I already have a SIL add in card) for the £50 - £100 more.

My question is will the DDR2 5300 from any of the big companies Corsair, G.Skill or whoever be adequate for the upcoming Conroe whenever I choose to upgrade ?
