My CPU fried and I've discovered since that I am living in the computing stone ge and don't have a compatible Motherboard for this CPU. :(

Which is the best motherboard that is compatible with this chip for sub-£100 pounds but preferably like £50 squid if possible. (I am broke... :()

Also I have 1GbKingston3500 Ram and a Radeon9800Pro... will these all be compatibel?

You need a dual core compatible board with a VGA slot and DDR RAM, yes?

Then;

MSI PM8M3-V H (Rev. 3 or 4) is ideal for you - you should be able to get one for £40-ish.

Asus P5P800-SE may be even better, as it's full ATX and you can clock this one! £50-ish.
 
Will the motherboard be compatible with both the processor, gpu and ram (Kingston 3500) as a lot has changed since I bought my stuff 2 years ago and I don't want to order stuff that is wrong! :o :)
 
Yes, both the boards I suggested take DDR RAM and support 8x AGP, which should be fine with your RAM and graphics.
 
As you are reputed to be in a nice part of France, I will take that in the spirit it was intended. :o

I would get the ASUS at the moment as the last time I looked, the MSI boards were not guaranteed to be Rev. 3 or 4.
 
I wasn't planning to OC my motherboard (tbh didn't even know you could :p ) but want to OC the CPU to above 3GHz basically on air. I'm guessing this will be quite easy considering most stories I have read get it above 3.4Ghz on air.

Why do you ask? (Can you overclock MB's? What does it do? :confused: )

I haven't got a soundcard on my current MB and am buying a new one because I am going to start making music via my comp hence why I wanted to know a PCI slot was available.

Despite buying and making my own 2 years ago I have forgotten everything I researched and am a noob again. :rolleyes:::D
 
No, he's still talking about overclocking the processor.

I don't know if you've noticed, but there are 2 ASUS P5P-800's and a Asus P5VD1-X in the B-grade section at the moment, at £30, £25 and £20+VAT respectively. The last one has both AGP and PCIe graphics card slots.

Can't speak for the other two boards, but I'd steer clear of the P5VD1-X if you're thinking of even remotely overclocking.

I tried two of them, and it was a whole world of pain!! Crashes I can stand, but not when they're unrecoverable and corrupt your windows installation beyond repair.

To be fair though, with everything stock, they were ok, if not exactly balls of fire in the performance department. You can also use DDR1 memory and make use of any legacy AGP GPU's you've got kicking about too, which depending on your circumstances might suit you.

That's the nub of the problem - the OP wants to use an 805, but with a legacy motherboard with DDR and AGP.

But if it's no good for 'clocking then that won't do either ;)
 
I dont recommend using DDR1 ram with this processor especially if you intend to overclock, the whole point of the chip is the two processors and you will throttle its performance if you do not provide the memory bandwidth for it.

Either upgrade or dont bother at all, ddr2 ram is generally cheaper at the moment then ddr1 so buy ddr2 and sell the other
