Pentium Dual Core vs Celeron Dual Core

I'm looking to buy a cheap laptop, most of those in my price range seem to use either a Pentium or Celeron processor, the T4200 (2.2ghz, 800mhz, L1) and T3000 (2.0ghz, 800mhz, L1) respectively, I think. Any ideas which is better?

depends what your going to use it for i wouldn't bother with a celeron personally

The T4200 is the faster chip

Celerons usually lack speedstep, I'd go with the T4200 instead.

Ive been asked to spec laptops for christmas presents, Is there anywhere that compares laptop cpu's?I know about desktop CPU's but laptop cpu's confuse the heck outta me.

You'd have to look at entire laptop reviews, as laptops can't be 100% custom assembled like desktops. In terms of specification comparisons just visit the AMD\Intel websites.

I've spec'd a few Pentium Dual-Core laptops for people and they seem to work pretty well.

The last Celeron I bought was a 300a (notoriously good overclocker). They've been pretty useless since then.
