A friend has asked me to build him a computer on a budget and already has a skt775 motherboard. I'm just wondering whether you'd go for the Intel Pentium Dual Core E6700 3.2GHz CPU or an Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz for £20 more?

No

The only difference is the multi and 2mb v 3mb cache.

Whats the budget?

The budget is as close to £300 as possible for CPU, Ram, Hdd, Graphics, Case and DVDRW

Don't base this build by a s775 mobo with this budget. Sell that mobo and start out

You must go i3

Since you're all speccing on-board gfx, I hope he doesn't want to do any gaming :D

You'd be a bit screwed tho on a £300 budget to include a proper gfx card anyhow.
