Pentium Dual Core vs Core i3?

I am looking at building a new PC to use for Web Development. I'm not looking for anything glamorous, just a well performing PC that I can rely on for work.

As such, I am wondering between getting a Pentium Dual Core G2020 or spending an extra £50 on an i3 3220. I've also looked at AMD options but not really an AMD fan.

So, my question is, for web development and light photoshop work, is it worth an extra £50 to get the i3 over the pentium dual core?

Thanks

To be honest though, it doesn't look that much better, I mean, for double to price you don't get double the performance.

In synthetic benchmarks you are bang on right but in real life usage I've found the lower chips are perfect for single tasks but as soon as you start overloading them with multiple tasks things start to stutter.

It's a tricky one OP. The i3 will keep you safe from such issues whereas with the G2020 you'll have to be careful with what you're doing.

I think you'll likely find the pentium cpu will hit brick walls when you're doing some of your work or have a lot of stuff open. I would go with i3 as a minimum if you're working on it with that type of stuff.

Thanks for all the advice. I've managed to get a used i3 3220 for £70 (not a great saving but happy enough) so now I just need to decide on the rest of the pc :)
