Is the Pentium brand still current in France then?

I think the Pentium E (2xxx series C2Ds if I remember correctly) is officially the replacement to the Pentium D series of CPUs.

this is getting overwhelming, too many intel processors out now

... and getting cheaper too

You'll be happy to know they're releasing Conroe L (Celerons) in single core, 1mb cache flavour ;) 800mhz FSB and at least up to 2.8ghz.

For once Celerons will be good for gaming!

The current batch of conroe - celerons are super chips, overclocked on the stock cooler (which is half the size of the standard c2d heatsink) you can hit around 3ghz+, faster than an overclocked fx57 :D

These should clock better than the current batch of e2xxx series cpu's, will be getting one to replace my ageing oc'd 930d server :D

I meant 2.8 as stock before overclocking, great for a low end rig... 14x multi even a terrible board and cheap/old ram would do 3.5ghz. Certainly what I am thinking for a lan rig - stick my old 7800GT in there when I upgrade and would make a nice little system.
