People Posting The Same Videos..

Not a rant.

I've noticed this a few times now. Say a funny video is posted, prime example is the scared child one. Its then re-posted again and again..do the majority of users on this forum "source" their funny videos from the same place and just post them on here?

If that makes sense. The forum gets on average 3-4 re-posts within a couple of days of each other.

I sometimes wonder this when I get a email-forward funny which then appears on the forum either a bit before or a bit after. Makes me wonder whether I am connected to the thread poster via a series of acquaintances' acquaintances and how many steps away it would be

Well to be honest I found the link I posted a bit ago on a very small forum without many users, I suppose that means nothing.

I search on here enough though so thought I would have seen it, never mind

the problem is:
- not everyone visits the forum everyday.
- searches dont always come up with results if the original thread is non descriptive/vague.
- GD gets trimmed quite often.

I'm speaking externally. People find these videos/pictures/animations SOMEWHERE and of course, get posted. They have to have come from somewhere and chances are, another larger forum.

We could use a link searcher, like in SA, but that would mean hacks on the board so I guess not.

chances are they are members of other forums. they'll see something posted then re-post it in another forum theyre also a member of if its not already there... therefore it gets propagated that way and spreads like a virus

there'll be an original in the beginning of course.. or something someone passes around to friends but then someone decides to host.. then it begins!

I doubt OcUK would want to hack the board as much as SA have, it's barely VBulletin any more, and they keep getting in trouble for removing the VB copyright notices and publically slagging it off as a piece of junk.

Radium's writing a new one though, should be very nice.

Should just make one thread for funny videos and another for pics and put it in the rules but i suppose still get people posting.

ive done it a few times but some threads arent descriptive and if they dont get my attention i aint gonna read it and the board has 1000s of posts a day :|

Maybe should stop people from making pointless threads??

Agreed. People don't repost on purpose, or to iritate anyone, its accidental.

TBH, seeing the reposter getting slated by some 'order freak' is much more annoying than the repost. Lighten up a bit.

.....I'm not blaming anyone or saying people repost to irritate people. I was only curious as to why people end up by chance posting the same videos in a very short space of time and suggested there was a large forum that most users go on and re-post onto this forum....

My apologies Sidewinder! I wasn't addressing u directly!! I was thinking more of the angry 'this is a repost you idiot' replies you see on some of the threads.

I think a lot of people arn't bothered searching through the whole forum to see if a link is already posted. I think thats fair enough TBO.

Stuff travels around the internet pretty quickly, that's why. So when a new internet video comes out, everyone posts it to all their mates, via forums, IRC, MSN...and so it'll get around fast.
