Does anyone else find it annoying when people will say the name of a brand instead of using the general term?

My two are enjoying their dreamies advent calendars as well trixilux, they usually only have 2 dreamies each a day, so currently getting 9 each is getting them very excited, half expecting to come home one day and find the calendars ripped to bits and all the dreamies scoffed! :D

That sort of thing.

Anyone else find that annoying. I would just say "cat food" advent calandar etc.

I know this is a pretty insignificant and trivial thing, it just irks me a bit is all.

Am I alone on this?

I think we are missing the point here.

Advent calendars. For cats.

This

Brb, going to hoover my carpets.

Some brand names are synonymous with the act, purely because they have been in use for so long. Others, such as the first, I had not the faintest idea what the hell you are going on about.

Sometimes things bother me. Sometimes things really bother me. But i dont get the issue with adding what make calander it is.

People want to know what type it is. Is it a whispa or a kitkat chunky one..Neither because i have a dennis the menace one!! Booya.

Ill tell you what 'brand' thing annoys me. The fact Melinda Messenger can get shed loads of free stuff on Cowboy builders which is obviously discussed off camera aslong as they get free advertising. Watching one last week and there was even a Slowmo of the dynorod van pulling up. I saw van i mean they zoomed in on just the sign for about 10 seconds lol.

So yeah, forever alone

/xmashug and a cat calendar? Are you my GF? only her would be daft enough to waste her money on that.

Yeah, like when people talk about their iPhone, instead of just saying their phone. People never used to say "I'm just going to grab my Nokia", what's wrong with just saying phone?

E: beaten, so close. :(

Unnecessary use of brand names makes the person sound like a plonk. It's part of the reason Alan Partridge, the biggest plonk going, is so funny, "He said he was laughing so hard he had Kenco coming out of his nose".

Seems acceptable when people name drop the brand of headphones they use when they reference them, the graphics card, the phone they use, or w/e. You sure this isn't just a thing you have against kitty cat advent calendars?

It bugs me when people refer to all tablets as iPads. I often get asked if my htc phone is an iPhone. And no, my Sansa Fuze is not an iPod.

That said, I do "hoover" my study as opposed to vacuuming it.

Yeah people really do get a bit carried away with branding.

Sent from my Microsoft Surface.

Edit: DOH someone beat me to it :(
