I have a direct debit set up to pay my Class 2 NIC of £2.10 per week.

From what I understand they do not collect payment weekly but less frequently?

I am concerned that no money has been taken from my account for the past 3 months, is this normal?

Thanks,

Chris

I used to get billed every few months and I had about a month to pay it. Give it another 4 weeks and call them.

I have payments taken out every month via DD, so something seems amiss, unless you requested another form of payment?

No I have not, I will give them a call I think.

Right,

They have received all the forms from me around 6months ago and have all my direct debit details.

They just decided to not set up the direct debit but bill me quarterly.

Crazy People!

Yep same here i get a quarterly bill, its easy enough tho i just drop it off at the PO in town along with £26 or whatever it is. Then at the end of the year i got another bill for £20 coz they said they had undercharged me.

How come the NI is so low when your self employed?, my mate said he pays £10 a week PAYE.

You pay more at the year end, when you do your tax return. Can't remember the exact figure but it's a fair lump.

When you are self employed you pay two lots of NI, Class 2 and Class 4 which is larger, about 8 quid or something.

don't forget, if your earning sub 4k (or there abouts) you don't have to pay class 2, just inform them of your situation (ie your earnings) and you'll get a form.

Yeah quarterly bill here too. As Tru says the rest is paid in lump sums. We pay our January and July. And 8% iirc?

 I only get a bill foe the class 2 NI, i pay about £26 every 3 months and then i get a bill at the end of the year for £20, i dont pay anything else. I'm worried now that i should be doing, is the other payment voluntary contributions?.
