Performance Air Cooler that doesn't restrict RAM Slot use

I need to find a decent air cooler that I can install on a MSI 990FXA-GD65 motherboard, cooling an AMD X6 1090T.

My problem is that I have all slots (4) populated with RAM, so need a slim cooler that can still cut it with a decent overclock.

I have looked at the Corsair A50, but a little concerned by the comment on Corsairs website.

"The fan/cooling fin structure is elevated 43mm (1.69") from the motherboard. Some motherboards outfitted with six pieces (6GB or 12GB) of Corsair Dominator and Dominator GT memory may not provide enough clearance between the CPU and the closest memory slot. Motherboards with standard height memory do not present a potential compatibility issue."

I've also looked at the Xigmatek S128264 Aegir which is close to the top of the frosytech reviews for AMD processors.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What memory do you have? Your only going to have an problem if its high heatsink memory (Dominator/Vengeance). And even the ddr3 dominator modules have removable heat spreaders for fitting larger coolers.

You said it!! I have 4 x Vengeance (4GB) RAM modules, hence my question!!

Is removing the Head Spreaders a good idea, I've heard mix opinions. In my simplistic view, they must be on there for a reason?!

The heat spreaders can be removed on the vengeance, but this will void any warranty on them (unlike on the dominators). A better option IMO would be to sell off the vengeance and get some XMS3 or Vengeance LP. Alternatively if you want to keep the high profile memory there is the option of a closed loop cooler like the Corsair Hydro series or the khuler 620/920.

Wow! I thought the NH-D14 was a monster of a cooler! But after a little search the V10 will indeed clear all shapes and sizes of memory. But you have to think about this, for the price of a V10 tec, you could have an NH-D14, which will wipe the floor with the V10 on cooling performance and noise.

You could just swap out the first 2 slots for vengeance LP, making sure there the same spec, should work fine and a D14 would then fit. Had a little search, it seems very easy to remove the heat spreaders on vengeance HP too.

Gandeh and pgi947 thanks for the advise, funny enough my current cooler is a coolermaster V8!!!, think I will probably go the Hydro H60 route. Thanks for all your help.
