I've reformatted my PC. again, possibly the 10th time in the last 2 months! But i've noticed something strange.

Before I was getting around 14900-15k on 3dmark Vantage at 3.1ghz but now running at the same or even higher 3.3ghz I get around 14000k.

Also on GTA IV for example, in the benchmark I was getting 35/36fps on average but now its 29fps..

Any ideas what would cause this?

I reinstalled on a different drive and got the high score.. I then cloned this over to my main drive and ran 3dmark vantage there and got in the 14k's.

Why would this change it so much? the main drive is a newer 1TB samsung drive whereas the other is a quite old 400gb WD drive.

Could this be the harddrive or something else?

Thanks

I couldn't find the info on the samsung..

But I think its something else, I swapped over the SATA cables and that seemed to do it. Although all the cables are new the one in the main drive has a bit of a kink in it, nothing major but I don't know if that would really affect it that much?

Seemed to take away around 600 3dmark vantage points though
