Performance Car Insurance

My modified 350Z is insured via Chris Knott, got a decent premium, £0 voluntary excess and protected NCB, and £100 compulsory excess. DOC, foreign travel, courtesy car and legal cover.

They're just a broker, but they will price match or beat the quote and generally offer in my experience so far a far more competitive service with better "deals".

I think value for money is driven by what's important to you, hence my question. Is it important you get a like for like loan car if yours is bent? Is it important you get freedom without penalty to take your car to your preferred body shop should it need repair? Is it important you are covered to drive any car fully comprehensively? Is it important you can bundle in other cars and other people at short notice? A good performance car policy will have much more than a price, windscreen repairs and protection from putting petrol in a diesel or losing your keys. However you also wont get that for nothing so hence the question really. If what you are actually saying is who will be cheapest to insure a performance car then that is a different question.

I have a household policy which covers anyone who lives in the household (my wife and I effectively) and also anyone who doesn't but is driving with my permission. This means I can let friends drive my cars or people test drive before purchase knowing they are fully comprehensively insured. I can also drive any other car, with the owners permission as can my wife, knowing we are fully comprehensively insured, not just third party insured. The policy is built around my main car, but I added my Polo GTi lease car to that policy for zero cost and my wife's MX5 is also on the policy for zero cost. We also have a like for like loan car policy, the choice to take the car to any body shop I so chose and full international cover too, including hire car cover. For this I pay 1250 per year.

I see. In that case all I care about is cover. Don't require a loan car or anything like that.

So cheapest then ;)

Nowt wrong with that, did the same on the 5 series, cost about 300 per year! However when I add in the R8 they wouldn't cover it, so had to move and when I then add in my wife's cover and further cars 1250 is top value.

Hasting Direct did me a great deal on my St220.

Most insurers didnt even want to know! and thats just on a 12 year old non modified St220 3Lt V6!

I got full cover, no excess apart from windscreen, full breakdown and key cover etc for just under £400

If you have a non modified car i would try them, if you need mod cover try greenlight first then adrian flux.

Ouch, i guess you're paying a bit of a 'premium' for it:p

Take flux off the list they're crap from what I've experienced.

Green light were cracking for me on the mps.
A lot of owners club will also get you a little discount too

Most mainstream insurers wont insure an R8 V10 so I am talking super car performance not just a fast hatch, Evo/Scooby/M car stuff. The premium is going to be significant on the car alone and I am 49 with a clean licence and decades of protected no claims.

Will give them a shout.

The mainstream companies are quoting 1k. That is too much imo.
