Hi Guys,

I just wanted to ask how large the performance gap is between ddr 400 and ddr 333. Because i was thinking about upgrading my memory for an oldish computer that i will be using for about 6 months to a year and i wanted to know if i could save money by buying a ddr 333 module without sacrificing a large amount of performance.

Thanks

Depends what platform and CPU, but there will be little difference in most cases, unless you're using onboard graphics. Dual channel is far more of an improvement than going from 333 to 400mhz.

It's an old AMD system with a amd athlon 64 3000 + CPU at its heart and it does have on board graphics. How much of a difference will that make?

Assuming the chipset supports dual channel, dual DDR333 will be much faster than DDR400 because theres 55% more bandwidth to share between the CPU and graphics.
