Performance hit - 2 dimms to 3 dimms

Hi,

Just wondering in general if there would be a noticeable performance hit going from x2 1gb in dual channel to x3 1gb?

As I'm thinking of adding some additional memory to tide me over for a year or so before i do my next major upgrade, or would i just be better off going for a x2 2gb kit?

Thanks for the reply, I fully understand the 32bit limitation of only addressing 4gb of memory in total, which is why I figured that if the performance hit of dual channel to single channel isn't great I could just stick in another 1gb stick. The reason being in fact that I do have x2 2gb kits, however I've had to use of the sticks in another workstation.

So would you think I'd notice the performance difference (in real world usage) of single channel compared to dual channel?
