currently i have

amd a64 3800+x2 @2.5ghz
2gb of poor ram
asus a8n-e mobo.

i am going to go conroe but what would be the best option for 300 possibly 400ponds. seeming i do not know much about conroe could some people spec me a rig for 300 and 400pounds.. all i want is cpu,mobo,ram. i will be overclocking!! also would it be woth upgrading would i notice a noticeable performance increase.

With a little overclockin you could get this processor upto 3Ghz....and with the 2mb of cache this would be a bit of improvement on the 3800x2...but i don't know how much of an improvement...it all depends on what your doing with it.
 
i will be mainly gaming..will i see a performance increase??? also is it easy to get the 6300 up to 3ghz on air the cooler i will be using is ac freezer 7
 
Whats your graphics card? If you mainly game then maybe this would show a more immediate gain - rather than having a decent cpu ( conroe) struggling with a very inferior graphics card - also please let us know what monitor you use and what resolution you use.

i have got a x1800xt and a xerox 19inch monitor. i also want conroe becuase its such a great overclocker. but will i see a noticable difference in windows such booting into windows faster benchmarks superpi e.t.c and also just the general opening of programs
