Performance increase?

Looking at spending a chunk of cash on a gaming laptop to replace my desktop.
Question is - Will there be a noticeable GFX increase?

My desktop is using an AGP Hercules 3D Prophet 9800XT Classic 256MB
My new lappy will be using a single NVidia 7950Go GTX 512Mb

Worth it?

There'll most definitely be a large boost in graphics goodness.

That GPU is two/three revisions ahead of your old one, with much faster RAM and more of it

To get an idea, do a comparison in 3dmark, and look for systems with the new card you're getting.

If the machine is primarily for gaming I seriously wouldnt get a laptop tbh.

Afraid the laptop will be for gaming. I just don't have the space for a desktop currently (am moving house in next few months and I need a newer laptop anyway). So plan is to buy a top spec laptop to see my gaming needs for a few months until I move and I can then upgrade the desktop to a better spec.

Just looking to play some Company of Heroes, Silent Hunter 4 & Stalker.

I did look at SLI laptops but I'd like to be able to carry the thing without doing my back in!!!
