Performance increase

So I NEED an up grade but on a budget.

ive been out of teh game for teh last 5 years at least so am VERY out of touch!

Current laptop is a Dell Studio 1737 with 3 gig ram and standard old HDD.

Im thinking for a quick fix to upgrade the ram and the drive for an SSD.

The laptop will only be used for processing images.

Would i see an increase in performance or am i just waiting my money and time?

Quick google throws this up : The SATA controller is 150 MBps.

I wont be gaming - kids get in the way of that these days.

It will be processing photos, even the raw files will only be 50ish meg tops i reckon.

Yup, just looking for a 120 gig now, shouldnt need more than that as all images will get backed up to the cloud and an external.
