Hello!

I'm running in to some performance issues whilst gaming which manifest themselves as a large stutter.. e.g. the FPS drops from 120 to 0 for a few seconds and then recovers with a number of less severe stutters occurring over the next few minutes or so. The less severe stutters can then occur over the next hour.

Games that it's most noticeable in are:

SWTOR
Wildstar
Planestside 2.

I've done the usual and run a deep scan with Bitdefender and I've also run a full scan with Malaware. Both reported 0 virus/malware.

Hardware wise I have the following:

Ivybridge core i5-3570k 3.4ghz @ 4.5ghz
Z77 Gigabyte Gamer Motherboard
Kingston HyperX Genesis 8gb DDR3 PC3 1600mhz dual channel
R290 Sapphire Tri-x OC
128gig SSD

Now I thought the above problem might be down to my graphics card which was a Radeon 7850 which I replaced yesterday with the above R290.

I haven't changed the graphics settings in the above games from the low/medium settings they were previously on and I still have the same problem.

Any advice on how I go about narrowing the issue down as it feels like I should be able to enjoy the above games in a fluid manor with the kit I've got; especially since I haven't upped the graphics settings since the upgrade!

Additional info:

-All three games are on the SSD.

-I've noticed that on average c4gig of my ram is always in use with CCC.EXE (catalyst control centre using 1.5gig).

-I have raptr installed and recording the last 3 mins of my games.

-Bitdefender is set to game mode.

Thanks in advance.

Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2) - installed April 2012..

I'll remove the overclock tonight when I get home from work see what happens.

Update the firmware, found here. There was a well known bug with those drives that occurred at around 5000 hours of use.

Once you've done that see if it helps. If not, then remove the over-clock

Ok - so I've updated the firmware and I found that the swapfile was actually on F: drive which was an older 250gig HDD which ALSO had it's power settings to idle if not active for 10 mins.

Since switching the swap file and the firmware everything has been smooth as butter!

Thank guys - appreciate the help.
