What's the best performance memory for a Gigabyte DS3 board and Conroe E6600?

The board spec says max speed is 800MHz so that would be the obvious thing to go for, but would it accept even faster memory?

For example, PC2-8500 (1066MHz). Is it worth paying twice what the 800MHz memory costs? I suspect not.

So what PC6400 (800MHz) memory would be best for this setup?

Don't spend loads on 8500 memory. The crucial tenth anniversary, despite being a 5300 as standard, has been overclocked to 1000mhz and still keeps 4,4,4,12 timings. That's crazy!
Otherwise, I heartily recommend the geil 6400. I have the same cpu + mobo as you, and they are very happy together!

Ohhhhhhh - Can I join your club?!

I've just bought myself a DS-3! I'll also be getting some Tenth Ann RAM and a E6300 - Overclock it to the max! :)

EDIT - I would have thought that this mobo is better suited to an E6300 rather than a E6600?

Either the crucial 10th anniversay, Team xtreme or the Cellshock. All are similarly priced and performing excelently. Until theres a decent comparison of them its hard to tell which is the king of the hill and i doubt it would be by very much anyway :)
