Are these any good? Do they make any difference to the cars performance and do they make it sound any better? I'm looking at a k&n for my astra( 2.0 16v) and wanted to know if its worth £33.99 to upgrade from the oem filter.

Cheers :p

generally no, most mordern cars come with very good induction systems and the oem filter is probably just as good as any aftermarket one.

no it wont make any difference tbh
I should mention I have K&N's in the 300zx, but only because they are washable and have a million mile guarantee.

Unless your engine is forced induction you won't see much difference. I noticed quite a difference on my car.
I suppose the main advantage in your case will be that it will last longer than a paper filter therefore probably paying for itself after a few services.

I stuck a K&N in my now departed VW Bora. There was more induction noise which was nice and it revved better at the top end, oh and a couple more mpg on a run. More drivability benefits than performance really.

I put a K&N in my MX5. Made it sound slightly nicer, the performance difference is negligible. I'd only recommend it if you need to replace your existing filter.

I've fitted loads of filters to loads of cars over the years and none have really made any difference (apart from noise) until I got the MR2 which really benefitted from the Apex'i filter.
