Right, it's been about 3-4 years since I originally built my current rig and even though she's done me proud instability and slowness have finally caught up with her.

Since I only want the bare guts of the PC to be initially upgraded, I'm gonna update the peripherals (case, soundcard, HD/DVD drives etc) at a later date.

I was hoping something along the lines of the following would be ok:
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) £34.99
(£41.11) £34.99

(£176.24) £149.99

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £57.99
(£68.14) £57.99

Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £104.99
(£123.36) £104.99
(£123.36)
OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £124.99
(£146.86) £124.99
(£146.86)

All of it comes to around £566 inc. VAT and shipping, which is fine as I want to spend as little as possible.

I don't want to overclock it just yet, as I want to run-in the parts at stock speeds and will wait until I get an Antec P182 to replace my PlusView before upgrading the case fans.

Couple of questions I would preferred answered though.

1. Why is the GeiL ULL RAM so dirt cheap compared to anything else, even ones with identical specs?

2. Since I have a 17" my native resolution is 1280x1024. I wouldn't mind being able to play the latest games such as BioShock and possibly Crysis, what I want to know is will the 256Mb of RAM on the 8800GT be good enough?

3. I'm assuming the Corsair 520W PSU will be sufficient to power it all? I'll also have at least 2 HDDs running and 1-2 DVD drives as well as 2 PCI cards (soundcard & Wi-Fi).

1. Because they can?
2. 256mb RAM should be more than sufficient at that low resolution.
3. Should have plenty of juice left.
