Am i better off going for some low latency 1gb ram. Or some cheap 2gb.
Does the pure size cancel out any kind of latency issues. BTW this is for gaming.

Cheap 2GB to be honest, the difference between expensive RAM and cheap RAM is pretty minor, but the likely difference between 1 and 2GB when gaming will be quite noticeable depending on the games you play.

Thank you. I thought 1gb would have done me fine. But looking at some of the upcoming games, I am feeling a lil scared lol

Good, my pc in general could use a bit of a boost. Getting a bit slow :( Could easily be fixed with a fresh copy of windows but thats way too much hassle. Hehe

I'd like to go with low latency... but for the kind of graphic quality/detail needed for the latency to make a difference in performance you'd be held back more by the lack of RAM than the lower latency could ever make up for...

yeah bf2 and bf2142 love 2gb of ram, so does ghost recon and company of heroes. Your right though, the way things are going it will be much more needed in future game releases.

when I had my 939 rig I got 2gb cas2 corsair xms ram from overclockers in june for £145. When I went conroe about 3 weeks ago I put my ram on ebay and I noticed overclockers were now selling it for over £200 so I managed to get £130 for my ram in the end losing out on practically nothing. :D

My point being I would hate to be the one paying over the odds for ddr now and also you will not be able to use it in any future rig. I guess you could just save your cash for now and put it towards a nice speedy overclockable dual core core2duo rig in the future. ;)

HMMM I guess it just depends as everything is relative lol :p

I just bought ocuk 2gb ram. Good enough? Currently have 1gb geil value.

Company of heroes plays pretty well all on high for me at 1440x900 widescreen. But it has started to get more intense and its slowing right down :/

Would this all run smooth with 2gb ocuk value ram? :)

Other specs are AMD64 3200+ Venice clocked at 2.5
ATI X1800XT 256MB stock speed, omega 6.9

Last time i checked comit charge after a COH session it was pushing 1.3gb :( And my whole pc was MEGA slow after i closed it. For example, IE took like 20 seconds to load

k right with 2 gb of ram that WILL help the closing time significantly, BUT if you have the game maxed out then all I can say that this game is very intense graphically and makes use of dual core, so it maybe a combination of your 1gb ram, your cpu and your 256mb card.

I run the game maxed out on my rig at 1680 by 1050 and I also get a bit of low frames occasionally when the screen is full of units and the awesome explosions are happening.

I guess you could run the time demo before you put in 2gb record your frames then it again after and see if the frames have improved. i guess whilst watching you could check if there is reduced stuttering.

Avrg FPS is stilll the same (26fps) all maxed out with 1gb or 2gb ram.

I haven't come accross slow down yet, normally i would have. The levels and units now load up instantly and it is running smooth :)
