** Peripheral Showcase **

I am for one. Spending this much you should know how to do basic things like how powerful macros are.

Read/watched a couple more one X reviews and they were not very positive.

The smelly keys reviews are questionable as Ducky directly contacted those with early samples which did smell and replaced them. Those reviewers should not have rrecorded their videos so early and then neglected to update once they got the latest revision which sorted that issue out.

It's not perfect,m which is why I gave it a 7, but as far as higher quality full sized boards go that feel great to type on and use new tech, there isn't a better board unless you sacrifice some things like these inductive switches and thus Rapid Trigger etc in favour of mechanical and buy a Keychron. Max line.

Yes I saw that post of yours on Reddit, ffs, now I'm eyeballing that one and the planet ones. Of all the things I feel the rapid trigger is the one I'd probably get the least use out of but I guess at least I'd have it.

Edit: Also the Techpowerup one said he wouldn't recommend at the price but there were actually a lot of positives on it.

Yeah some reviews don't really make much sense, TCP's negatives vs positives don't align with the overall conclusion they made for example. Such is the way I guess with different outlets.

The Wooting is a paperweight effectively :p I'll get an 80HE and use that at work lol. the Ducky will stay because I like it and the Q6 Max will be whipped out when I want to hear those keycaps go THOCK :D

You ever been tempted to build your own keyboard?

There’s a noticeable improvement to the sound and feel when you do the whole piece yourself, particularly because you can choose each part to suit your preferences.

Life's too short, only one thing getting lubed in my house and it won't be keyboard switches.

The Q6 Max basically comes exactly how id build one myself, the max layering of silicone padding and latex for THOCK and keycap shape.

My only desire now is to change the keycap theme so they're darker keys with white double shot lettering whilst still being OSA profile but finding this in UK-ISO layout in stock is near impossible.

I think the Q6 Max is end game really, full metal case with via/qmk support. Only downside is that individual keys cannot be assigned RGB colours like you can on Wooting and will be able to on Ducky in the update upcoming but I'll just leave RGB off on it anyway.

I just checked and the switches on my current kb have a 1.2mm actuation point 3.5mm travel, 45g force.. This was very hard at first as I was constantly pressing things by mistake in games, I appreciate it may be desirable in games for competitive people but I think I need that 'deadzone' to allow for me wresting my digits on the keys without activating. Having an adjustable one is therefore quite attractive depending what I am doing.
Am I right in thinking this is where the complaint (being addressed) comes from on the Ducky regarding not being able to save multiple profiles?

This is genuinely where the Wooting is so good (and I'm sure others have this feature too).

I have 2 profiles on my Wooting (swap between then by press Fn & Enter), one for gaming and one for typing. On the Wooting board you can create lots of different profiles but I only find the need for 2. The gaming one is below and I set a standard 0.8mm actuation point on all keys - then have set values on specific keys. I use 0.4 for WASD, I use 4.0 on the keys I don't want to have mis-inputs on (Windows key etc.) and then I adjust other keys if I'm finding them too responsive (recently changed Caps Lock to 2.0 as I was hitting it in games more than I wanted).

MT in the bottom right is 'mod tap' - so the key does something different if I press vs. if I tap it.

Then for typing I have this profile - where the majority of keys are set at 2.0 - with certain keys at 3.0 if I find I need to be more deliberate with my key presses.

It means using my typing profile, I average 121 WPM for the 30 second run (for 100% accuracy) with a raw input of 131 on MonkeyType (https://monkeytype.com/). MT is a great little tool, lovely interface for the actual typing and the stats it gives you are really great if you want to get all nerdy with typing and keyboards. It's been great for me to get an initial feel for how a keyboard feels and to get an idea of the sound over a sustained typing period - but also to make adjustments if I feel it's too sensitive or too slow.

Yes multiple profiles is being explored by Ducky, Wooting software has been around a while and is ina mature state whereas Ducky is still nee. Ducky one does do things better than Wooting in other areas though like stringing macro customisations assigned to keys in the fn layer and so on are not possible the same way with Wootility but are in Ducky and Keychron web apps.

I'll message Wooting and see if they'll send me a 100% size sample of whatever the two HE replacement is and regence my Ducky review, Keychron Q6 Max will get it's own review I think instead of ahead to head as there's a lot to cover with it and I have some ideas to photo it for the reader views and so on :D

As it stands now, putting the three full size top end models from each together and typing ok them they're is one distinct winner, but for software as a general overall, the Wooting loses unless you use the KB exclusively for gaming o lying, then the Wooting obviously wins until we see what Ducky's updates add to the system.

Spent the last week committing to using the OP1 8K (Purple Frost) and really starting to get much more use to the shape & feel of it. It's certainly on the smaller side compared to what I've been using (Vaxee XE-S) but the clicks on the OP1 feel so sharp and so immediate and the scroll wheel feels much more 'deliberate'. You can feel each step and it's really useful for quick swapping between items/equipment.

Downloaded the software to update the firmware and played a few games using GX Speed and GX Safe on M1 and M2 to see how it felt between the two. Happy with the way I play to stick with GX safe which still feels rapid but guarantees no spam click issues that you might get with GX Speed, tempted to give it another go with GX Speed at some stage too.

The coating on the purple version is lovely, really grippy and much more resistance to oils/sweat!

Grabbed a bungee as well (Micro Bungee ES) which has definitely helped. I think my reluctance to commit to using it all the time was definitely related to the cable but the bungee has really helped with that - and there's always the LGG after market cable that can take that even further.

Also it's purple.
