I just got my new radeon 3870XT today, and i'm trying to install the drivers for it but the setup keeps telling me that 'setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit.'

I have uninstalled all older drivers, went into safe mode and ran driver cleaner, reinstalled.net framework, tried catalyst 7.11's that came with the card and the newest 8.3's. Nothing seems to make it pick the card up but it does show up in device manager as 'radeon 3800 series' and GPU-Z picks it up too.

Anyone have any insight into how i can get round this? any help would be appreciated.

uninstall the drivers and use driver cleaner in safe mode again. Then bootup into windows.install VGA drivers first from the cd you got for your card.Let windows search for them. Then install the CAT's 8.2/8.3 which ever. That is if your on xp.

Naa m8.Sorry i thought it sounded like a error you get when you have not installed VGA drivers in XP before you install the cats. That and netframework are the only problems i have ever heard of or had myself with ATI cards.

Its completely bizarre i know. It seems to work fine too, can play video etc perfectly. If it helps at all it also starts disabled in device manager every time i restart for some reason.

It's fine i got it, cat 8.2's worked without a hitch. I have no idea why the 7.11's were supplied with it if they didnt work with it but its all sorted now.

Much appreciated for your help guys, especially skunksta. :)
