Hi all,
Really hoping someone can help me. I built myself a new PC system July last year as follows:
But it has never been stable for me. It was getting BSOD maybe two times a week, with varying messages. I reinstalled windows around Christmas time which seemed to solve most of the BSOD issues, but the PC now just restarts itself randomly, again maybe twice a week. Temps are great, and it has never crashed whilst gaming - it always seems to crash whilst doing light duty stuff, emails, surfing, etc. It usually does its restarting routine within the first hour of being turned on.
I have done the following diagnostics:
Event viewer is showing the regular shutdowns as 'Event ID 41, Task Category (63)' which is fairly generic.
BSOD viewer shows only two events since the Windows reinstall both relating to DPC Watchdog Violation and ntoskrnl.exe
In addition to the Windows install I have:
Believing the issue to be the PSU I replaced the unit with a new 850W Seasonic Focus PX-850 80PLUS Platinum but to my extreme annoyance the problem still persists.
Next I will try removing one RAM stick at a time, but I'd be surprised if that was the issue as all memory tests have been passed and it is so stable when gaming for hours on end?
Any pointers on where to look next? It is my everyday computer and I don't have any spare parts, so it is expensive and frustrating to buy replacement bits only to find out they weren't the problem.
I've been building and upgrading my PC's since the 90s (I still own a Pentium 3 that is more reliable than this!) but this has really made me think that next time I'll just buy off the shelf
Thanks all, Dave
