Hi everyone,

I have just purchased and installed a Netgear D7000 - done this with Sky Fibre.
Having read many reviews of AsusRT-AC68U vs Netgear D7000 I went for Netgear. So easy to set up. I really like the router and would like to make the most out of it.
I would fancy some private cloud storage attached to the router. I would appreciate some advise.
Here is the list of the important features:

1. Need to be able to access files over my wifi and mobile network.
2. Can automatically upload iPhones' Camera Roll.
3. Can back up my pc

Any help much appreciated.

thanks,
Tom

Hi Markev,

Thanks for your input.
Yes, Synology is so far at the top of my list. Ds216play especially. Watched lots of videos on youtube and really quite like it. Apparently there is a DS photo+ app which allows automatic syncing of iPhone Camera Roll.

I would love to see if anyone likes QNQP more than synology and why.

Synology,

I have a genuine synology and also a Xpenology on a N54L and the Xpenology wipes the floor of the genuine in terms of speed its also a lot cheaper and can connect lots of drives :)

Indeed I use Owncloud on a Raspberry Pi2, with 32Gb SD card which is more than enough for my needs, i only have photos and essential files backed up, no movies/songs as I have no need for them.

It was very easy to setup with nginx, and bought my own domain and created a self signed certificate too, its open to the internet of course but I have hardened it and use fail2ban, I have the Owncloud app on my Nexus phone and PC and it all works seamlessly and more importantly I am in control of my own data, all for around £50
