Personal/slim blender or a regular blender?

I bought a Breville Blend Active personal blender to make shakes and smoothies, and despite it saying it could crush ice the part between the blade and base disintegrated. To be fair I probably put in too much ice for it to handle at once.

I've struggling to find replacement blades (VBL246 for anyone interested) so I was wondering if it's worth picking up something like a Ninja Nutri Slim blender or whether I should just go for a regular blender.

I already have a reliable hand blender for soups etc. so that's not a requirement. Is there anything that you do with your blenders that I'm not thinking of?
