Here and there
Hello all.
Even after a year of using my mobile (EE SIM), I still struggle to remember the number.

I've came across a few websites that let you buy mobile numbers, perhaps personalised is the wrong word to use but I'm sure you know the kind I mean.

The easier the number is to remember though, the more expensive it costs to buy (£200-£3000)

Has anyone used one of these sites for buying their number?

I was looking into these Gold number sims recently. Some proper dreamers on eBay haha

How comfortable are you with changing your number and giving it out to friends and family? I’ve had my number 27 years and be too much hassle changing it

It's easy - Spend a few moments every day just reading your number out loud to yourself. Like the words to a hit song that gets over-played on every radio station, it will worm its way into your head and you will recall it forever after. I can still remember lock combinations from 1985.

I'm also happy to split the £200-£3000 you've just saved... ;)

I can see the appeal but as others have stated I'm sure it'll bring more spam.

Alternative is to have a partner remember your number then as them.

Memories are a strange thing I still remember the 0 9 0 double one ten 50...10 theme tune but can't remember what it was off

Same here, except 23 years for me. I think within the first year I remembered my number and just stuck with it. I've never had a landline, so everyone I know has just the 1 (unchanged) number for me in their contacts.

You more likely to get spam with personalised anything. This includes email addresses or house addresses. etc

what about personalised number plates!!

Yeah, personalised number plates will get moAr spam :p

Showing your age, there - It was CITV.

You also had 081-811-8181, which was Live & Kicking.

Lol slightly derailing but it wasn't sm TV live or something worth cat the dog was it?

Ok another more relevant note, my dad's just got fibre, they made him change his old landline number and didn't let him carry over the old one and now has to relearn a new one, new one is an ip phone/VoIP surely he should have been allowed to carry it with him (same address just changed to fibre)

I used to have a number that was really easy to remember with the last 3 all identical. Meant so much I changed it without even thinking about it last contract change.

Do people really care about stuff like this? Perhaps for a business number, but personal it's irrelevant. I don't even know my friends numbers.

My ex moved into a house and was given a new landline that was "gold" number. She ended up getting countless calls a day for taxis.

I used to have trouble remembering my number. At the time the place I worked required you to change your computer password every month. One month I changed the password to include my phone number. I've remembered it ever since.

Only downside is that if your password is hacked then your number is also out there too. Great idea though
