It struck me that the most complicated and off putting aspect of this mod is the cutting and finishing of the perspex. Subsequently I have found this lot (www.ponoko.com) who have had pretty good write ups from Wired Mag, New York Times and the BBC. Basically what you do is design a template using the software on their site and then upload it to them. They then use a laser cutter to cut your template into your chosen material. In this case perspex.
I'm quite keen to have a go at doing a similar mod on my 22" at home altho I might try it out on a cheap 17" first. Still seems like an interesting way to create what otherwise would require some half decent machining skills. I haven't had a play with the software yet but judging from the stuff they are selling from their online shop it's pretty versatile.
