PES 2009: new season, new advances

Konami confirms Autumn launch for PES 2009

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that it will release PES 2009 for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PlayStation®2, and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) this Autumn in Europe.

PES 2009 is the latest installment of the award-winning Pro Evolution Soccer Series, which is known by millions of fans for its superior gameplay and incredible realism. For PES 2009, Konami is already planning a raft of extensive new additions that will further bridge the gap between PES and the real thing. The new game has undergone a stunning graphical update to ensure its players look and move even more like their real-life counterparts. Similarly, all-new options allow users to tailor the game to their own tastes, while new moves, innovative new control elements and key online elements will further the realism of the new game.

“The announcement of a new PES game is always a highlight for Konami, but PES 2009 looks set to reaffirm the series’ utter superiority,” commented Jon Murphy, PES Project Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “We are committed to extending the realism of the new game with a wealth of key gameplay additions, and will produce a football title that truly embodies all the skill and pace that is good about the modern game.”

We've heard this nonsense from Konami for the past few years.

It's time for them to deliver.

^^^

They should do. PES8 was awful, horrendous infact. FIFA 08, while not perfect, is the best FIFA I've played and is incredible online. I've read about the features planned for FIFA 09 and it sounds very good, and if they can also implement an edit mode similar to PES' then I think FIFA can pull away most of PES' fans, especially if PES9 is anything like it's predecessor. I know a lot of people who were hardcore PES fans that have gone over to FIFA since the release of the last two games.

FIFA 08 is unbelieavable. Really quite amazed at FIFA achieving what they have with the 08 update. Was a complete PES fan boi for years but PES 2008 was woeful. Removing key features from the game and playing online is at times unplayable due to LAG etc.

PES has a lot of work to do imo

Id be quite happy if they just fixed the lag in 08, slowed it down a tad, the problem was people didnt give it a chance as online was just horrendous.

Euro 2008 was an improvement over fifa 08, did some things better, but a few things worse, a nice combo of the two would be superb.

PES 6 was brilliant, nearly the best of the lot (I like 5 the most, and 6 plays a bit like it) Once I then got into PC and sold my PS2, I got PES2008 on the PC and...well put it this way. I still have it only cause:

1. Its probably worth nothing
2. Its a good game to play with my footie mate whenever he is around, I never play it otherwise
3. I can't be be bothered to put it up for sale

I don't know why, but the euro and world cup offerings from EA are always quite good. I remember playing Germany '06 world cup thinking it was excellent, and def the next game to get. Fifa 07 came around and it was rubbish :p

I haven't played Euro 2008 (are england in it??lol) but will give it a try if its getting the thumbs up from a PES player :)

People just abandoned pes6 when pes2008 came out and I have no idea why the servers are still working for pes6 and thats the game I play online.
#1 they must include 2v2
#2 netcode must be as good as pes6
#3 no more servers in japan

Please please please fix the goalkeeping spilling. It happens in football but 2-3 times a game? That is unrealistic.

Master League should be smashed up and completely rebuilt. There's not an ounce of difference between playing ISS Pro on the PS1 and PES2008. Okay, I'm exaggerating but the gap isn't exactly big between the two.

As for removing editing features, game modes (random fantasy selection) and stadiums, if they put them all back in I will be a bit happier.

Graphics wise the screenshots do look like they've been touched up and improved but it looks like a reply where you get to see all the depth of vision etc. I want detail and decent graphics from a higher view where you actually play the game. Looking forward to hearing more news like always but very skeptical this year. Last years marketing lingo was embarrassing

bucket of salt indeed because if they can make and release a game as bad as pes2008 I have little faith in pes 2009.

Slow PES2008 down? God it was bad enough with out it being slow as well - in fact it was not quick enough.

I've really gone of these games where pretty much everything is donw for you - you have a pass, shoot, cross, run button and then you just end up running near goal and pressing the shot button and seeing what happens (okay you get a power bar as well).

I much prefer games like Sensi Soccer where you feel more in control. Sadly there won't be anything out there like it (even the new Sensi Soccer was rubbish - what is it with companies who have to go an ruin a prefectly good game by putting in stupid features - such as the big heads in Sensi Soccer).

Roll on a game where you have more control over whats happening, quick with the proper functions like season with transfers and what have you. None of this rubbish thats out now.

Have you tried FIFA08? You have much more control, especially if you turn assisted passing off. You even need to watch your player because if he's leaning back when taking the shot there's a pretty good chance it's going into row Z.
