PES 6 Cheating!

Ok, PES on the 360 is frustrating at the best of times, but the cheating is really getting on my nerves.

Played a guy last night -really close game and I scored to go 1-nil up with 2 minutes to go.

As soon as the ball hit the back of the net and the reply started - the dreaded freeze (how convenient) occurred. Couldn't leave and the guide button doesn't respond.

Having read about the cheats out there and have previously fallen for this one, I left my console on...all night and it's still on now whilst at work! :p

My question is, is there any way of ensuring that the other guy has disconnected? With the "cheat" should my console come back to life when the other player has finally disconnected or does it need a reboot.

Checking out the Xbox Live site, it shows that the guy I was playing was offline, but he was last seen at the time of the freeze.

Any advice appreciated - determined not to let him get away with it! :D

Ok, I am going to probablly seem a bit of a noob here, but I dont play PES6, but I have a friend that does so I want to warn him of the cheating.

What exactly does it involve? he plays quite a bit online, how do you know someone is doing it, and how do you stop it from happening?

Not 100% sure what they do - I've heard either putting cable modem or router on standby (although I would have thought it would disconnect) or the other one was pausing the game.

This causes the Xbox of the other person playing (in this case me) to appear to lock up completely - guide button doesn't work and the only way out of it is to switch off.

Of course this is what the other person wants you to do - they then get a 3-0 win against their stats and you get a 3-nil defeat and a disconnect to your name.

It's quite a well known "trick" now and conveniently, only happens to you when you are winning.

lol! He's quit - 15 hours later! :D

Petty, but fun! :p

Well done mate, you've done us proud. :)

Would love to have been there when the other guy realised you weren't giving in after 15 hours lol.

It's something like this thats going to ruin the game for everyone, how many people are going to do what you did and stick it out for 15 hours and cannot use there console until someone gives in.

all for the sake of rank / Gamer points ???

TBH who really cares? people fudge the ranks on burnout as well but doesnt bother me, yeah its cheap and pointless but what do they gain?
Its not like they are making money from you and TBH you know you beat him so whats the big deal.

It's the principal ;) I was off to bed anyway so wasn't going to bother me

I've had three people do this to me, and **** that if I'm going to fall for it. I just hurl message after message of abuse at them through xbox.com, I'd never switch off my 360, and I tell them this.

I'm successful so far. Does my head in.

Yup this has happened to me too, I just don't switch the console off and usually the other person will give up. Pretty sad really, its just a game after all.

Don't play ranked matches then, simple as :)

Unless you actually care about ranking up.... ;)
Or gamerpoints.

Exactly.

it should be the rule - if u disconnect/quit and dont come back within 30secs you lose the game by default.
Unfortunately when people put their modem on standby it doesn't class as a disconnect.

Ive got a guy doing this now, the daft thing it was 1-1 going into extra time.

I was suspicious beforehand as he has played over 600 games, which seems absurd.

Ive just mailed him to tell him ill leave my 360 on for a month if i need to.
