This popped up on IGN today http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/100/1003048p1.html

My friends still play 2009 to death even though I have become more than a little bored with it, although still prefer it to Fifa just for ease and general fun. They seem to have made a fair few improvements although a lot of stuff has been promised and just turns out to be a re-hash but I do have hopes they will pull their finger out this year.
 
After really taking to Fifa09 recently Konami had better come up with something amazing because if EA improve it will be impossible to beat.

I have my doubts tbh.
 
dear god when they start showing how the fave detail has changed you know something went wrong somewhere...

i dont think the original PES games had real player names, let alone faces .. who gives a %^&* about what their face looks like, when for the majority of the match u cannot see it?! id rather they worked on the flaws in the game, the control as opposed to aspects that dont even relate to gameplay..

but what do i know?!

I know; especially since they said that they were going to build 2010 from the ground up just a few weeks ago. Sounds like the same old gameplay to me, just made slightly harder by defenders who actually decide to close you down for a change.

They really need to pull it out the bag for this to get my money over Fifa next year; if, as the article says, Fifa '10 has actually improved over 09, we're going to have an awesome game on our hands :)
 
One thing which annoys me about PES: The complete inability to play it online without any type of lag. This has been prevalent in the last two years and they haven't changed it one bit.

The thought of them making any changes to how the game plays, doesn't seem very likely. They are happy with just an update roster and a couple of changes. Hope Konami prove me wrong, but I don't think they will!
 
What hilly said, even if Pes is the better game, I only play footy games online, therefore pes is screwed before it's even released unless they really sort the online out for me
 
Beleave it when i see it, They said PES08/09 be great they werent atleast FIFA has always improved.

Loved PES6 but after than soon changed to Fifa. Will play both when they both have demo`s but will have to be extremly good to keep me away from fifa
 
How long did it take EA to take back the crown?

I was playing PES since the first one, only after the crapness of PES7 did I start on FIFA.

I'll give it another 2 years until EA arse it up and Konami pull their finger out.
 
I stopped playing PES after PES6 was such a joke, and the demo for PES2009 didn't impress me at all. Fifa really is miles ahead of PES at the moment, and the new features being added to Fifa seem much more relevant than the PES features. It seems like EA are actually listening to the complaints and suggestions from Fifa fans and doing something about it. Examples of this are full 360 degree control and a wall on the main screen so that free kicks can be practiced.

I'd be amazed if PES 2010 is a better game than Fifa 2010, and it seems from that article that IGN are pretty dubious too. I'm willing to give PES another try because it was my favourite football game series until PES6, but I'm going to rent it or play the demo first before I think about buying it. Fifa is pretty much an automatic buy unless it gets absolutely slated by reviewers and I don't like the demo.

Can't see it, EA are too big, have too much resources/money now for anyone to compete against them. Their gameplay is getting near as good as a football game can be and each year they will iron out the problems until there's nothing left to fix.

Konami have to create a good enough game first before they can even start ironing problems out each year.

What's so funny, i've been playing the Konami series since ISS.....but since getting used to Fifa09 playing PES09 is a complete shambles in almost every department.

Konami are so far behind EA now it's virtually impossible that they can catch up in the space of 1 year.
 
FIFA09 is full of online bugs though and they're doing NOTHING to combat cheating.

They have said though that cheating in any form won't be tolerated in FIFA10.

Saddened that PES has took such a poor turn as it is by far my favourite of the two franchises in terms of gameplay.
