These great kites have just been re-released by Peter Powell's son's

(Not the DJ)

I had great fun in the 70's and early 80's flying mine and it is without a doubt one of the best toys I owned, up there with the Raleigh Chopper!

Also available on eBay.

Got mine, red with a red tail, looking forward to trying it with the kids.

sadly im old enough to remember them, didnt the TV advert have john michel jarre playing in the background?
£40 for a kite seems a bit steep though

Maybe, but you don't get much for £40, for example, look at the price of a decent sized Lego set or AirFix kit.

It's not that much if it's a good quality made to last kite, I have a stunt kite and 2 flexifoils and they were all over £100 each.

I can't click on the site it's blocked from work, what's the wingspan? I'm assuming you can still stack them, that was their greatest feature.

I remember flying a binbag on string once, I grew up poor...

Multiple kids joined me when they saw what I was doing though.

I also flew bags on strings, I had a great 'plastic bag' kite that was carefully made from a thick plastic bag, cut open and bamboo sticks, split.

A local Bangladeshi man made it for me as a lad.

But I did also just tie bags to string.

I remember having one in the late 80s/early 90s. They were great fun up on the hills near my grandparent's house trying to see how many loops you could got too close to the ground.

The only problem I did have once was when the tail came off and floated 100 yards down a rather steep hill and into a large patch of spikey bushes and the kite itself became more unstable than Lindsey Lohan - that was a challenge landing it without smashing into the floor :)
