***Petition to Evenbalance***

The problem is the programs running on your computer. Punkbuster used to freeze my computer all the time, it was my fault. I re-installed and whala it's fine. I suggest you end any unneeded processes and programs.
 
Signed it. Hardly play COD4 multiplayer now as always crashing randomly, and I don't want to destroy a hard disk or corrupt files thanks to Punkbuster freezing my machine.

Punk buster is the worst peice of crap. It should not run unless your using a game that wants it, but it's open all the time, what a peice of crap.

How do you overide cvar?

Im joining online games and get kicked within 10seconds with "communication failure : pnkbstrB.exe : handshaking failed.

I have tried EVERYTHING that it recommends on the cod4 boards.. and i mean everything! running in admin, update pb manually, uninstall / reinstall, disabled firewall everything nothing works!

also im running vista 64bit. any ideas guys??
 
i hate punkbuster, i get kicked on AA all the time for some MD5 thing, i don't even know what MD5 means for **** sake?! :mad: go on a sniper killing spree and kicked for MD5 or some crap
 
I run Vista x64 and the only major problem is that there isnt a Punkbuster for the 64-bit CoD4, you have to run the 32-bit exe. My clans server has been up for weeks with no punkbuster problems on Windows Server 2003. You always have to manually update Punkbuster as it never ever installs right. I dont know why not though.

Same probs as you :( except I am running 32bit windows
 
Dont get PB problems on any Of my games on vista 64.
How many of you are running 3rd Party firewalls & have tried tunning off the firewall completely to see if the problems go away & have the latest PB updated manually.
There is also evidence of 3rd party gfx card tools conflictingly with PB ATItool & rivatuner with some settings.
