That's funny, the first thing that was on offer was a consensus where everyone agreed on the colour. I must admit that I have lived in a co-operative household before... And... We had similar discussions about paint colours. What is amusing is with consensus the colour that was most chosen... Was yellow.

Consensus can suck too because often you just get the most bland thing that everyone dislikes the least.
