Due to the large number of threads here about petrol/diesel cars, and wanting to change from one to the other to save money, I've decided to make a very basic page which allows you to enter cost to buy the car, MPG, fuel cost and annual milage, and it will calculate how much money you will save per year on fuel costs, and how long it will take to break even on the (normally) extra price difference on buying a diesel.

If anyone can think of any changes/additions (other than graphical at the moment ;)) they might like, to make it work better, please let me know :)

Damn, Scottland, that's pretty conclusive...I like!

I have a feeling it'll take quite a bit of work to get that implemented...maybe once I've got a few hours to do so! ;)

In that case substitute "Cost to buy" for "depreciation amount".

Part of the point is to show that you might not save as much money as you first thought, especially doing low milage with a larger cost difference between the two.
