We're moving to Germany soon, and since pet transport is obscenely expensive, we're looking at taking them ourselves on the Eurostar. Has anyone taken pets this way? The Eurostar website seems to suggest there are no checks or documentation needed to take pets through from Folkestone to Calais - is this correct? Can we take them through without having a pet passport?

We're not doing the reverse trip so we don't need to worry about taking them back.

We're taking our car not on the passenger train. Pets are allowed. Can people who have actually taken pets in their car tell me what the process and checks are?

Then don't worry about it. Same regs, and you'll just have to sort out a form with a vet within 10 days of arrival.

Just double check the vaccinations, passport and microchip, and off you go to the great wonders of the harmonised EU. :) Edit: not even that, it seems:
Traveling to Germany from another EU Member State:
- Regulations in steps 1 and 2 apply.

- Have your veterinarian update an EU Pet Passport for your pet. An Annex IV form is not required for pets traveling to Germany from another EU Member State unless a rabies booster was administered by a veterinarian outside of the EU at any time after your pet received its microchip.
