my sister is moving away soon so it looks like ill have to get myself a new car

my previous car was a 106 1.1 xn which i really liked compared to the "car" im driving now (clio 1.2)

so yea im thinking about getting a 106 rallye, planning to spend around £1250-1500 and i was wondering if anyone has driven one and could tell me a bit about them.

also, any alternatives? ive had a quick look around and nothing seems to really jump out. maybe something slower as the insurance looks like its gunna be about 1.3k

cheers

The S1 Rallye is a great car, much more fun to drive than the 106 GTi I have now.

Plenty info over at the Rallye Register - www.106rallye.co.uk

"more more fun" is very questionable IMO. My brothers 106 gti is an asbolute hoot and compares well to the S1 and S2 Rallyes I have drove. LOOS is much more addictive in the gti.

Yes, they will be lighter as they have no electrical kit. Rallyes are great to drive but I'm not sure how easy it is to find one that hasn't been raped - thats what they were made for and now they're getting on a bit, they will have been raped by all and sundry, who have failed to maintain them.
