The cigarette lighter in my mates car stopped working, assuming we need a new fuse for it?

Where do you change the fuse, and what type do you need?

Sorry, complete n00b when it comes to cars :p

The fuse box is probably in under/in the dash on the passenger, side, there might be some kind of diagram to show the location of fuse your looking for, if not just look for the blown fuse. You can tell a fuse is blown by looking between the two contacts of the fuse, they should be joined by something that looks like a wire, if the join is broken, the fuse is blown.
Theres often a spare fuse in the box itself.

Thanks, how do I go about opening the dash? As I said, total n00b!
If there is no spare fuse, what kind of fuse would be needed?

Im not actually sure of the location in the 206, just in my 106, its behind the glove box and covered by some fabric. Have a look around you'll find them within seconds.
Once you find which fuse is blown, just take it to a motorfactors or halfrauds and they will have a replacement.

Again with my car you just open the glove box and its there, but its probably different in the 206, just have a look, you'll find it within a minute at most :)

What engine is the car? You need the handbook to find which fuse it is!

The fuses are under the steering column where your legs go. Just half turn the screw and it opens up.

There should be spare fuses next to the fuse box. You won't see them but there is a small clip you can remove to the left there. It also has a tool for removing the fuses.

in the 206 if you look below the steering wheel there is a plastic panel with a plastic screw...unscrew the screw with a 2p piece and the plastic will drop off,
fuse tray will then be staring right at you

On the inside of the fusebox cover there is usually a diagram showing which fuse is which, and what rating of fuse should be used.

the fuses are below the steering wheel and you need to replace fuse 18

but unless your instrument panel, aircon panel and the numberplate lights are broken it aint your fuse thats broken :p
