Hey,

I'm Looking to upgrade from a 2010 fiesta, does a 308 1.2 (2021) for about £13k at 25,000 miles sound reasonable?

I know nothing about cars, just after super reliable to last a good 5+ years, about 8k miles a year with £10-13k budget.

Thanks for any advice!

Seems fine. I sold a pretty solid 2017 Ibiza 1.2FR for £11.5k (trade).

They aren't super-reliable so if that's the priority I wouldn't do it. My wife has the estate version and there is a known design flaw with the belt that has trashed a few engines including hers (and someone she spoke to randomly parked next to in a car park with the same model slightly newer). I have a thread on here but you can read about others with the issue here also: https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/159060/peugeot-308-sw--
A few other issues as well.

It's a shame because everything else like size, engine power, styling, gadgets etc is decent.

Obviously all models of car you experience issues but catastrophic engine failure and loss of power during motion can be dangerous if it happens in the wrong place. We'll probably sell the car in a few years (doesn't make sense to right now because it's had so many replacement parts it is effectively 'young for its age'.

I’d be very weary of the 1.2 engine. Wet belt degradation is killing them off prematurely, it’s very common too.

One of the best cars I've ever owned and I had all sorts of brands - audi, BMW, Mercedes. Parts will be dearer than a Ford though

I was actually considering a 308SW I’ve seen on Autotrader for about the same price point, but spotted a Renault Megane estate for a few hundred more that I’m hopefully going to look at on Wednesday. On the lookout for a cheap family estate car at that sort of price point, and it seems that equivalently priced Seat Leon ST’s, Skoda Octavias and Ford Focuses I’ve looked at are older and higher miles.

Yes 'on paper' the 308SW is highly competitive in terms of an estate car that has a huge boot without being massively long. The only things that come close really are Octavia Estate, Leon ST and Civic Tourer which tend to cost more for an equivalent spec.
Regarding the Megane Tourer, don't know if you are looking at Petrol or Diesel but keep in mind the Diesel has a much smaller boot so I would avoid that.

megane seems to have a DCT box/6 speed automated .. or 5? speed manual - hmmh, no ZF/asin

newer fiesta might be nice for OP but are prices increasing? with its production demise (kuga time)

It’s a petrol, with the 1.3TCe engine. It’s in Iconic trim, so it has pretty much everything on it I want, like reversing camera, cruise and climate control etc.
