Peugeot Just Add Fuel - Service Exclusions?

Spoke to salesperson about the Just Add Fuel deal on a new 208. You pay a deposit, 36 x £ monthly a final payment (but you still never own the car) or just walk away at the end of it.

This can be a fair deal because it includes tax, servicing and insurance for the full 3 years.

But I have a question about the servicing. Twice I asked the salesperson if that includes everything: tyres, exhausts, light bulbs etc. Yes was the reply.

Checking Peugeot's website T&C it says this:

"Routine servicing included only. Excludes wear parts"

If it's only the routine 20,000 servicing that's included and not tyres, exhausts, clutch fluid, battery, .... all the other stuff then this is probably not such a good deal!

So who is right? Salesperson or the website?
 
Services almost never include those things though, with the exception of maybe clutch fluid. The salesperson was wrong.

VED is free on the car anyways, so knock that out of the equation.

I'm not sure but I'd be very, very surprised if the deal covered you for free replacement of tyres, brake pads etc and other run of the mill parts which are considered to be 'consumables'.

Methinks yer 'salesperson' is spinning a yarn or has not got a good grasp on the small print. ;)
 
Exhaust possibly, tyres certainly.

I even asked if a chipped windscreen was covered and yes was the reply. Presumably that would be covered by the insurance, of which a claim would have to be made. Whether NCD would be lost would depend on the insurance T&C. Don't have that info yet.

Just trying to work out the total three year cost for outright purchase or Just Add Fuel.
 
Dont trust a word any salesman tells you, trust what's written in black and white as this is what will alwaus be referred to down the line. You can safely assume Peugeot will cover routine servicing only
 
Get the salesman to put it in writing signed by him and the sales manager of the dealership.

Exhaust should easily last more than 3 years and tyres will depend on the type of journeys you are doing.

My current car (leased) will be going back next July, 3 years old with ~40k on the clock and in that time it will not have needed anything other than 2 services.

Also check with mileage limit on the deal as I seem to remember 6000 miles/year being in the small print on the TV advert.
 
Yes. Understand the reliability of parts. Just trying to work out 'what if' scenarios.

I specifically asked the salesperson 'what if this ... tyres, exhausts ....' so that I can compare the total cost of JAF with the total cost of an outright purchase. He said 'everything is covered - you do literally just pay the fuel'.

Peugeot Customer Services have not directly answered my question either. They deflected the question to say what exclusions there are with the 3 year standard manufacturers warranty. I have asked them specifically "what happens if the tyres are bald in year 2, because the salesperson said Peugeout will replace them as part of the package."

I shall pay him a visit.
 
I guess the tyres might not be directly covered (by warranty), but rather by extension of a wheels/tyre insurance policy.

It seems to be the norm these days to be offered (in addition to the usual GAP insurance) tyre and wheel cover (up to 5 tyres a year, and alloy scuff refurbishment), and minor damage repair. I got Audi to throw in tyre/wheel cover, purchased the minor repair cover, and purchased GAP separately from ala.co.uk.

Excellent! I guess it's now not worth bothering with this dealership at all.

Pretty much all dealerships and sales staff are the same though, anything for a sale.

As mentioned, get it in writing.
