Hi I have calibrated my monitor with ICC profile and within the monitor itself. It was purchased brand new and am happy with it. Can someone tell me if this amount of backlight bleed is minimal or excessive pls note that the image looks slightly worse than it actually is?

Only way to really reduce that is to have the brightness and gamma dialled down as much as possible while limiting any black crush ( http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php ) and/or potential eye strain if its too dim.

Should be able to get the gamma down to somewhere between 0.77 and 0.92 in the nVidia control panel if using nVidia without any real compromise on image quality.

I have just brought a 279Q today and I have BLB too. Though not as bad as yours if i'm honest. I was thinking of sending mine back but after having a quick google mine does not seem to bad. Not sure what to do to be honest but I can say that both my mate and I have the same monitor as you and sorry as it is to say yours is the worst of the three. I'd send it back but your choice as you never know the next one could be even worse. That's what prevents me from sending mine back.
