PGR4 problem

Just tried playing PGR4 but for some reason I can't even get to the main menu. I've created a driver and then get a message that reads:

"Welcome to PGR4! To start, you can customize how you look while competing."

with a prompt in the corner to press A. Pressing A does nothing and it's just stuck at this point.
Tried it from the disc and after installing to hard drive, also tried signing out of Xbox Live.

The disc is a bit scratched but there were no problems with installing so I assumed it was fine. Any ideas?

Try it on a different xbox - take it round your mates or something. If it works, throw your xbox out the window.

Found a solution, my Xbox and window can stay intact

Just need to start the game with a non-Xbox Live account signed in, then swap to my proper account at the main menu.
