Hello there im not sure if this is the correct to play this but i have the following cooler http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=HS-002-PT. ANd right underneath that coolers is my graphics card which is very close to the metal parts that hold the fans in place. So i have just wrapped celotape round the metal. Would this stop the graphics card from shorting out if it was ever to touch?

link doesn't work, is it the Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler?

u must have a fairly small mobo for them to be that near, i would have gone for electrical tape instead of cellotape,
how big is the gap?

Well actually my motherboard is Asus Rampage IV Formula Intel X79 but im using the 1st pcie and 3rd slot for SLI so the top is very close to the cooler

Had the very same problem.
I bent the parts of the spring that stick out back toward the cooler.
Put them in a vice, and use either a small hammer or a piece of wood and hit that with a larger hammer. They bend quite easily.
I also placed a piece of stiff plastic between the graphics card and the cooler. (Belt and braces. :))

Couldn't find my small heatshrink so stripped a piece of insulation off of some wire and slipped it on the spring clip. Took a little faffing about to get it around the 180 degree bend but no problem after that.
