hi Guys

Got all my new PC components today from OC and have been assembling it all together.

I am having some issues with all the cabling however.

I am happy I have connected all the components correctly but I am slightly confused on the Case cables for the fans, buttons and LEDs

Am I right in thinking the case fans, power buttons and LEDS's get all their power from the Motherboard, thus I don't have to hook up a cable to the PSU as there seems to be psu connectors attached to the case?

I have connected the cases: reset button, HDD light, power button and HD audio cable to the Motherboard.

There was also a USB 2 connection coming from the case somewhere so I have hooked that up, and the 5 case fans link in to a hub on the back side of the case. This hub has a cable that connects to one the motherboard chassis fan pin socket but it also has a PSU connector too, so does the PSU need hooking up to this?

Also should there not also be a cable from case for POST beeps on boot?

The 2nd question is I have put thermal paste on CPU and seated the heatsink.

What temperature should a 5820k CPU idle at clocked to 3.8GHZ (I would guess somewhere between 35-45 would be acceptable with a phanteks TC12DX cooler)

Would approx 75 degrees under heavy gaming load be about right?

I plan to install Windows 8 tomorrow and soak test the machine tomorrow with an old GPU for 24 hours but would like the above clearing up before I turn it on.

Thanks

Jim

Thanks for the feedback Leon

Managed to get in cabled up and working and Windows is now installed :)

However I think I am going have to reseat the heatsink

Idle the CPU temp is 35-40 degrees but under prime 95 torture test it hits 90 within 5 minutes

I am going to try Asus benchmark to see if that shows similar results.

Cheers

Jim
